A native of Utah, Kara has a B.S. in Global Studies with a focus on the Middle East and Central Asia from Brigham Young University and a minor in Geospatial Science and Social Impact. She speaks German, Turkish, and is trying to teach herself Russian and Spanish Her prior work experience includes The English Skills Learning Center, USAID, and other internships. Kara is passionate about strengthening her local community and encouraging others to get involved. One of her favorite quotes is from Herman Melville's Moby Dick which states, “We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men." Kara enjoys singing in different languages, embroidery, pretending to be a professional chef, skating, reading, and learning about the world.
