Homestay hosts needed for an in-person program

UCCD is seeking volunteers to provide lodging in their homes for 7 Ukrainian leaders from February 11-19, 2022.

UCCD is hosting our first in-person delegation in two years!  In February 2022, a delegation of Ukrainian leaders will visit Utah as part of the Congressional Office of International Leadership's Open World program to examine and explore how Utah focuses on LGBTQ+ inclusion. The Open World program is unique in that visitors stay in the homes of local Utah volunteers instead of a hotel during their time here. During the day, delegates will be in meetings organized by UCCD.

We understand if you are hesitant to host international visitors. However, here are some details that will hopefully alleviate any concerns you may have.

  • All delegates will be fully vaccinated, and the program will include frequent COVID testing and extensive precautions.
  • Each delegate will need a private bedroom in a home located in the Greater Salt Lake area.
  • Homestay hosts are asked to provide their guest with dinner and breakfast on some days.
  • Homestay hosts are asked on some days to provide transportation in the morning and evening for their guest to and from UCCD's office.  (If this is an issue, let us know, and we can find a solution.)

Hosting these visitors in your home is a great way to build the international bridges we have missed over the past two years!
