Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, in partnership with Global Ties U.S.and the U.S. Department of State, invites you to attend Diplomacy Begins Here: The Power to Make a Social Impact, a Global Ties U.S. Regional Summit held in Salt Lake City, Utah Friday, July 12.  Join us as we bring together more than 100 local, national, and international leaders from business, government, and nonprofit sectors engaged in social impact, global economic development, and international exchange.

The theme Power to Make a Social Impact will focus on three areas:

  • Collecting Data-driven Results: Today, there are more demands to prove your impact. Become equipped with the right tools and knowledge to ask the right questions that collect data-driven results, demonstrating how you are moving the needle with social impact.
  • Telling Compelling Human Stories: Learn how to tell impactful stories that encourage people to develop personal connections with the work you are doing.
  • Value of International Exchange Programs in Utah: Learn how Utah is fostering global connections in the international community and celebrate the critical role that public and citizen diplomacy programs play in advancing U.S. foreign policy goals.

Student Information

By attending the Diplomacy Begins Here Summit, college and high school students will receive the unique opportunity to learn about the value of International Exchange Programs in Utah while speaking with recruiters, directors, and representatives from the U.S. Department of State from the following offices:

  • Office of International Visitors
  • Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs

Best of all, attendance at the summit for students is free! Student registration fee includes light breakfast, lunch, exhibitor social, and access to the Diplomacy Begins Here Summit, including the Diplomacy Simulations and networking social.

Participate in a U.S. Diplomacy Center Simulation 
Focusing on the theme of Freshwater Crisis, students will take on the roles of key stakeholders as they negotiate a diplomatic resolution to a current hypothetical crisis and the factors that led to it. The exercise will develop skills in critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, persuasive communication, and global competence. 

 

Careers in International Affairs
Learn how you can have an international career. Meet professionals who work with the Department of State and others in the international relations field.
