Academic WorldQuest

Academic WorldQuest, a global knowledge competition for high school students, becomes more fun & fierce each year as foreign policy buffs, United Nations enthusiasts, young international entrepreneurs, global change agents, and the universally curious mix, mingle, laugh, and compete for Academic WorldQuest domination.

Teams of four students compete by answering ten questions in six global categories. Our talented emcees read each question and four multiple-choice options which are also projected by PowerPoint onto screens. After each set of category questions, your answer sheets are collected by the scorekeepers, and then the emcees review the questions with the correct answers so you know how your team is doing in real-time.

The top-scoring high school team will win the opportunity to compete at the National Academic WorldQuest competition in Washington D.C. held in April 2020, hotel and airfare covered by UCCD.

Coming soon - The Ambassador Experience

The best way to become an Ambassador is to learn from former U.S. Ambassadors, former Foreign Service Officers, U.S. Department of State representatives, and honorary consuls. UCCD will host a series of networking events where youth can meet and mingle with our guest speakers.  Our guest speakers will also provide personal insight into their professional experiences as traditional and citizen diplomats. Stay tuned for more details!

Friends & Family Policy

Event Open to the Public

As a Young Diplomat of Utah, we want you to feel comfortable bringing friends and family to events that you choose to participate in. In fact, we have a point incentive for referrals to our program. Friends who attend public events with a Young Diplomat of Utah can actively participate in two events before UCCD requires them to be fully registered with the program. The good news is, if they register, we will give them retroactive points for their participation.

If friends choose not to register as a Young Diplomat of Utah and still want to attend public events, we ask that the friends do not distract the Young Diplomats group and especially his/her friend.

Young Diplomats Official Events

Due to liability issues, friends, parents, and siblings of Young Diplomats are not allowed to attend, unless all criteria is met:

  • The event is open to other participants outside of the Young Diplomat groups;
  • The parent/legal guardian and friend pay any costs associated with the event;
  • The friend will need to sign a liability and media release waiver;
  • The friend is between the ages of 14-20.

Please note that events, where UCCD provides transportation, will also require a parent or guardian accompany the friend, and all costs associated with the event must be paid prior to the event.
