In July 2024, English-speaking Iraqi and American high school exchange students will visit Utah as part of the U.S. Embassy-Baghdad and Department of State program implemented by World Learning to prepare international youth to become community leaders. The Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) is unique in that visitors stay in the homes of local Utah volunteers instead of a hotel during their time here. During the day on weekdays, students will be in meetings organized by Utah Global Diplomacy. The hosting dates are July 26 - August 7.

  • Each student will need a private bedroom in a Greater Salt Lake area home.
  • Homestay hosts are asked to provide their guests with dinner and breakfast on some days.
  • Homestay hosts are asked on some days to provide transportation in the morning and evening for their guests to and from Utah Global Diplomacy's office. (If this is an issue, let us know, and we can find a solution.)

Hosting these students is a great way to build international bridges and introduce intercultural diversity into your home! If you are interested in hosting, please fill out this form.
