Letter from the Director December 2022

Dear Friends of Utah,

I wanted to share three pieces of information this December.

First, this year's 40th anniversary of our Vivaldi by Candlelight fundraising concert was a huge success. Utah Global Diplomacy did indeed bring you the crème de la crème of the Baroque Era, featuring masterpieces by arguably the four greatest composers of their era - Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Arcangelo Corelli, and George Frideric Handel - while reflecting Utah Global Diplomacy's mission of fostering respect and understanding among all people in the world.

For those of you who attended the concert, we hope you enjoyed the expanded Baroque orchestra of strings, winds, brass, timpani, and theorbo. Can you believe that timpani drum solo! Now whether you attended or didn't, I'm delighted to share that the concert was recorded and can be experienced on our YouTube channel by click here.

Second, we are looking to expand our Strings of Diplomacy art exhibit that features violins painted by local artists representing countries and communities around the globe. We are looking for global artists willing to share their artistic talents with our organizations by painting a violin. If you are an artist or know of any artists interested in this opportunity, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Finally, as the year draws to an end, I am once again filled with gratitude and humility for you, our community of citizen diplomats, who shared your ideas and knowledge and opened your homes to our International Visitors, attended our world affairs lectures and International Youth Summit, participated in Citizen Diplomacy Boot Camp, and supported our mission, programs, and services with your generous donations.

Implementing people-to-people diplomacy while still navigating Covid-19 has been no easy feat, but it is only possible because of you. All of our work is only possible because of you. So with a full heart, I want to say thank you and that I wish you a peaceful holiday season. I look forward to seeing you next year, one handshake at a time.

Globally,
Felecia Maxfield-Barrett
