Host Families Needed for 24 High School Students

 Apply Here

March 21-31, 2024
, a group of English-speaking high school exchange students from Honduras, El Salvador, and Belize will visit Utah as part of the Youth Ambassador Program implemented by Georgetown University and World Learning. The students will participate in activities that develop their leadership skills to address pressing issues on environmental and climate change impacting their communities.

The Youth Ambassador Program is unique in that the high school students stay in the homes of local Utah volunteers instead of a hotel during their time here. During the day on weekdays, students will be in meetings organized by Utah Global Diplomacy.

  • Each student will need a private bedroom in a home located in the Greater Salt Lake area.
  • Homestay hosts are asked to provide their guests with dinner and breakfast on most days.
  • Homestay hosts are asked on some days to provide transportation in the morning and evening for their guests to and from Utah Global Diplomacy's office. (If this is an issue, let us know, and we can find a solution.)

Preference will be given to host families that have middle school or high school students in the home.

About Youth Ambassadors:

Youth Ambassadors aims to develop a cadre of young adults who have a strong sense of civic responsibility, a commitment to community development, an awareness of current & global issues, and strong interpersonal leadership skills. Activities foster relationships among youth from different ethnic, religious, and national groups; with the goal of promoting mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between the United States and our Western Hemisphere counterparts.

Hosting these students is a great way to build international bridges and introduce some intercultural diversity into your home! If you are interested in hosting, please fill out this form.
