About Utah Global Diplomacy's Founder
Taza Armstrong Peirce, born on August 4, 1922, in the picturesque town of Park City, Utah, was the beloved daughter of Ruth Irene Addy and Arthur LeRoy Armstrong. From a young age, Taza displayed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility towards her family.
During the tumultuous years of World War II, Taza played a vital role as a secretary in the Army General's Office at Fort Douglas, showcasing her dedication and resilience. Later in her career, she ventured into insurance as a secretary and claims writer. Her professional journey reflected her versatility and commitment to various roles.
Beyond her professional life, Taza was an avid reader with a profound interest in global affairs. Taza was not only known for her wisdom but also for her delightful sense of humor. A woman of multifaceted talents, she dedicated herself to her church. She tirelessly pursued genealogy work, extending her efforts to her family and a diverse circle of international friends, bringing joy into the lives of many.
However, Taza's legacy to Utah was the creation of our nonprofit, the International Visitors Utah Council, today known as Utah Global Diplomacy, in 1967. Taza warmly welcomed countless international visitors to Utah as an International Hostess associated with the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Among her guests were foreign royalty, global leaders, and exchange students, who all came to know and cherish Taza for her hospitality, grace, and international camaraderie.
Her impact on the Utah Global Diplomacy scene was profound, leaving an enduring legacy of friendship and cultural exchange.
